Meet Your Vice Chair Amber Chen!
Hello Everyone!!
My name is Amber Chen and I'm honored to be your vice chair for BMUN 71's Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. I'm currently a second year here at Cal, studying Sociology and Ethnic Studies. My academic interests include survivance in ethnic communities, contemporary social movements, and intersections of sexuality, gender, and race under capitalism but I'm always intrigued with anything social science! My friends can attest to how willing I am to talk about it all so don't be afraid to ask any questions or start a conversation with me.
I serve as Human Resources for BMUN, ensuring the social, physical, and emotional health of our Secretariat. You may have also seen me at Fall Conference II, where I was head chair for the Salem Witch Trials. It was my first time ever head chairing and it was so fun so I hope SNCC makes you all feel the same. This is only my second year in BMUN (and all of MUN for that matter) but I'm excited to see what this year will bring, now that I finally some experience and knowledge in my back pocket.
Outside of BMUN, I am attempting to rekindle my love for reading (currently on There There by Tommy Orange) and writing at the same time so wish me luck! In the meanwhile, I'm obsessively rewatching Fleabag, Pride and Prejudice (2005), and Everything Everywhere All at Once. I also love Stardew Valley, Taiwanese beef noodle soup, and domestic hobbies.
I can't wait to see you all at BMUN 71 and I hope you all bring the tenacity, wit, and passion to this committee that I know you all can.
.
Best wishes,
Amber
